From uncomfortable questionnaires to managing your own health.

Young people often do not feel comfortable with the existing youth healthcare offerings. This results in questions about their own well-being remaining unnecessarily unanswered. How can we give young people control and reliable information about their physical and mental health?

THE CHALLENGE

Young people are at a vulnerable time in their lives. They have to deal with a lot of change, in their body, mentally and in their environment. Young people live in their own eco-system that is difficult to access as an outsider. Youth Health Care has trouble reaching them and really understanding what's going on with them. This makes it more difficult to inform and help them in a good way.

FINDINGS

The insight

The current youth health care system - with two mandatory contact moments in the form of a static questionnaire - does not resonate with young people's experiences, and the available sources of information are experienced as uncomfortable. And that while young people are very concerned with their well-being and body. The most important question they have is "Am I normal?"

Our solution

An app that focuses on the young person themselves. By shifting the role of youth health care for young people - from a controlling and measuring role to a listening role, with appropriate and reliable advice - we give young people the tools to be in charge of their own health and, where necessary, can easily contact a youth nurse with questions.

THE OUTCOME

YOU!

An app that doesn't look like a government service, but stands unobtrusively between Instagram and TikTok. A tool that fits seamlessly with the digital experiences that young people have already embraced in their daily lives. By connecting to the experiences of the young people, we have created a service that feels like someone is next to you and has your best interests at heart. In collaboration with the experts at the Center for Youth and Family Rijnmond and youth psychologists, we have developed content that normalizes, provides support and provides perspective. For example, young people experience a sense of autonomy and learn to take control of their own physical and mental well-being at an early age.
