Innovation in Digital Identity: The Power of the ID Wallet

Handling online matters with a municipality often involves providing personal or business information and documents, such as a passport copy, bank statements, or a Chamber of Commerce extract, a time-consuming and stressful hassle. Additionally, vulnerable groups often bear a disproportionately heavy bureaucratic burden. And if you are a legal representative conducting online business on behalf of someone else, it becomes even more challenging. With a digital identity (ID wallet or vault), you can handle everything easily and securely online with one app on your phone. Moreover, you have more control over your own data.

ID wallets are a new way of managing personal digital data and online identity. With an ID wallet, citizens have more control over their data and can handle online matters much more efficiently and easily. We expect that the use of an ID wallet will truly kickstart the digital transformation in governments, putting the citizen at the center.

We are very pleased to announce that the Digital Government Innovation Budget 2024 (Innovatiebudget Digitale Overheid 2024) has been awarded to our consortium of strong partners, taking part in a pilot project investigating the impact of using an ID wallet or ID vault on residents, entrepreneurs, and municipalities, including chain partners in the social domain. The pilot will take place in Nijmegen, where Ver.id, Municipality of Nijmegen, City of Amsterdam, Divosa, InnoValor Advice, UWV and the Chamber of Commerce will participate.

We are very excited to start working with this team!
